Dogs tend to sleep a majority of the day. They may sleep wherever the urge hits them, but unfortunately, this may mean on your bed or on a nice piece of furniture. If you work during the day, you may return and find dog hair in places you’d rather not. If you don’t want to crate your dog in with a fence, then maybe his own personal bed may help.
When looking for doggy bedding, keep in mind that the best bedding is warm and comfortable. Make sure the bed is large enough to fit your dog while he’s outstretched and when he’s fully grown.
Dog beds come in many shapes and sizes. From fluffy towels to a cloth covered, foam-filled pad, you can find just about any bed you are looking for. (Just be sure that whatever material you choose won’t harm your dog if he ingests it.)
Some beds are specially made for dogs with disabilities or special needs. Orthopedic beds, for instance, are designed foam beds for maximum comfort for arthritic and special-needs dogs. These beds tend to be highly-cushioned, supportive, and portable.
Beds filled with a foam and cedar chip mixture are also available and cut down on odor.
Whatever bedding you use, think about your dog’s comfort. Would you be comfortable in this type of bed? If the answer is yes, then chances are your dog will enjoy it too.
All bedding and covers, if appropriate, need to be washed regularly or when soiled or dirty.
