Unlike our furry friends, fish do not have any coating for protection. This is why water temperature is very important. Always make sure that you have read the manual properly to attain a right water temperature and gravity that is right for your fishes.

It is very common for goldfishes to have a temperature of 75 degrees Fahrenheit and 75 to 80 or 85 degrees Fahrenheit for tropical fishes.

It is an important thing to buy along with your aquarium a thermometer and heater for proper monitoring and for your aquarium to cater various types of fishes.

The water in your aquarium is measured in pH level. The pH level of the water may vary depending on the type of fish you have. If you wish to take care saltwater fishes, you water pH level can be from 7 up to 8.3. For freshwater fishes on the other hand, you should have 6.8 to 7.2 pH level of water in your aquarium.

Just like any other living element in this world, fishes also needs and oxygen in order to survive. The amount of oxygen needed for a particular fish can be immeasurable however; you must provide them enough that will keep them moving. You can provide them with enough oxygen with the help of an oxygen pump, which can be purchased in any fish pet shop store.

If you’re looking for a low maintenance pet that’s enjoyable and won’t make a mess, then try adopting a few fish!

The general care of salt water fish is entirely different for fresh water fish. So make sure you know which type of fish you want and which you ultimately get so that you don’t accidentally mistreat your fish. If you’re unable to get salt-water for your simple aquarium, then you can choose the fresh water fish rearing.

1. Overfeeding your fish should be avoided. The additional feed in your tank will become as a waste and settle at the bottom of your tank, which will become as a poison to the pet fishes.

2. You should change the water in your aquarium tank at least one-third in a week, so that within three weeks all of the water will have been replaced. This will help you to mislay a fish from a tank.

3. Don’t purify a filter. You can use little filters because they need to be transposed often than others.

Freshwater fish are pets that often stigmatize their owners; they are thought of as lazy or not responsible enough to take care of a larger more interactive pet. However, freshwater fish require a great deal of care, and often it is fish enthusiasts that seek out the majority of freshwater fish. If this is a pet you’re considering, remember to research their care and maintenance.

First, be sure not to put too many aggressive fish types in the same tank. This can lead to the death of one or more of your fish and to the destruction of your tank.

Also, be sure to research the types of habitats your fish will need. Will they survive in a simple bowl, or do they need more room? What type of water is best? What temperature should the water be? How often do you need to change it? These are important questions that you should consider before settling on your purchase.

Finally, remember to research feeding. Quickly develop a dependable feeding schedule and stick to it. Always consult the company that you buy the fish from in order to fully understand the type of food and feeding schedule that your specific fish requires.

Fish may not require too much attention, but they can be a handful to take care of. Be sure it is a commitment you’re able to accomplish and then go for it. Keeping fish will bring something extra to your household that other pets don’t.

Keeping marine fish is different from keeping most tropical fish. Marine is a term used to describe salt water environments, so the main difference is salt levels. Marie salt is necessary, which does in fact differ from your common table salt.

Warm salt water evaporates quickly and a large tank can lose up to 25 liters a week. Marine fish don’t like big changes in salt levels, so an automatic top-up device is a good idea. This will regulate and maintain the levels, making your job much easier.

Another essential bit of kit that you should have is a protein skimmer, as this will help you keep the water clean. A protein skimmer should be used in conjunction with a biological or a natural filter system in your tank.

Another key piece of equipment includes a cooler or chiller. A cooler is a refrigeration unit that is connected to the main tank, keeping the marine water cool. Because so many tanks produce heat, it’s important to keep your fish at a constant cool temperature.

Be sure to ask for tips and advice at your local fish store before purchasing any fish you’ve never previously maintained.

Going organic is all the crazy, but did you know you can go organic with you fish’s food?

Yes, you can make healthy fish food right from your own home with ingredients you probably already have lying around your house.

First, it’s important to feed fish food high in DL-methionine, an important amino acid in fish nutrition. Start with whole salmon, frozen peas, hardboiled egg, brine shrimp, duck weed or spiulina powder, and fish or cod liver oil. Blend these ingredients and add corn starch to dehydrate. What you have is a spreadable paste that you can put on foil or wax paper and feed to your fish.

For more carnivorous fish, you can increase the amount of whole salmon or even add calamari. If you add squid, be sure all the ink is removed before adding it in.

All of these ingredients contain vitamins and minerals necessary to keep your fish bright and alive. Talk to your vet or local pet specialist if you are concerned with your fish’s health or dietary needs.

Caring for goldfish is difficult enough; they’re notorious for their short life spans and require a great deal of attention and care. Not only that, but you have to pay attention to the smallest details, including the quality of their water.

The best thing to do is check with your local pet stores to see if the quality of your local tap water is acceptable for your fish. Water should be free of chlorine and chemicals before it is added to the aquarium. Often, letting the water sit for at least 8 hours allows the chlorine to evaporate. Use a clean, well-rinsed container for the fish, and also allow 8 hours for the water to come to room temperature before adding your fish back into the water.

The water should be adjusted to a neutral Ph level. Goldfish prefer a Ph of 7.2 to 7.6. Your pet store can recommend the proper chemicals and addition rates to adjust the water.

An aquarium that does not receive regular water changes and additions can cause ailments or death to goldfish. So be sure to clean out the tank or aquarium on a regular basis, changing out 10 to 15 percent of the water. When more than 25 percent is changed, this can often cause too drastic a temperature change.

Whether you love fish or you simply want to beautify your home, adding an aquarium can be lovely as well as daunting for fish beginners. One major aspect of the aquarium is lighting. Having the right lighting all depends on the what’s kept inside the aquarium, so figure out what you want your aquarium to house and get ready to light it.

If you only plan on keeping a few fish, you can use a single lamp for their lighting. Regardless of what type of lighting is needed (fluorescent, metal halide, compact fluorescent, high fluorescent, or LED), keep in mind that the fish in the tank will need the light only at certain times. They don’t like too much light, but too little and they begin to lose their color and energy.

To enable the fish to be properly illuminated, make sure to choose aquarium lamps that generate more red tone light. For a fish tank with few fish, chose incandescent lighting because it offers different bulb strengths and color.

Depth is also an important factor when picking lighting. Deep aquariums require more light than shallow ones, so choose deep halide lights for these tanks. Deep tanks can also be fitted with compact bulbs, which are affordable and long-lasting.

Finally, consider plants. If you have plenty of live plants in the tank, choose lights that emit through red wavelengths, otherwise the plants may grow poorly or fail to grow at all.

Whatever you choose, remember that fish and plants thrive in a properly lit environment, which also helps improves the aesthetics of your entire home.
